Confused business owner thinking about small business web design with Wix Studio
Without the jargon, because building a website shouldn’t feel like deciphering alien tech.

Welcome to the No-Fluff Zone

If you’re a small business owner, chances are you’ve been told you ‘need a website’—but no one explains what that actually means. In this post, we’ll break down what small business web design with Wix Studio looks like in 2025—no jargon, no pressure, just clear and helpful advice.

Let's face it: the web design world is full of buzzwords. Responsive layouts, breakpoints, CMS integrations, pixel-perfect design… 😵‍💫 But before we dive into the tech stuff (gently, I promise), let's talk about what you need to know — no jargon, no gatekeeping, and no intimidating "you must learn code" vibes.

Small Business Web Design with Wix Studio in 2025

Web design today is less about mastering code and more about creating digital spaces where your brand can thrive. Think of your website as your online studio, shopfront, or gallery. It's the place where people land and decide in seconds whether you're the real deal.

So, what do you need from a website?

  • A clean, on-brand design

  • Easy navigation

  • Clear call-to-actions (a.k.a. "Click here to work with me!"

  • A good mobile experience

  • Fast load times

  • And, ideally, a way to update it without needing a developer every time you change a word

Sounds simple enough, right? Well, the good news is that it can be, especially with tools like Wix Studio.

Wait... Wix Studio? Is That the Same as Wix?

Ah, I'm so glad you asked. The short answer is Wix Studio is the glow-up version of classic Wix.

Where Wix (the OG platform) is built for absolute beginners — drag, drop, done — Wix Studio is designed for web designers who want more creative control without needing to code from scratch. It still has that intuitive vibe but with a serious set of power tools under the hood.

I like to think of it this way:

  • Wix: Great for DIY sites and quick builds

  • Wix Studio: Better for custom designs and professional builds

In other words, Wix Studio is where things get interesting — especially if you're working with a designer (👋 hi!) who can tailor your site to your brand instead of squeezing you into a template that doesn't quite fit.

Why I’m Creating This Series

I'm a web designer who enjoys testing out different platforms and tools, not just for fun (okay, partly for fun) but because I want to offer the best possible service to my clients — and help them feel confident in their tech choices.

And let's be real: Wix Studio isn't perfect for everyone. Sometimes, it's precisely what a client needs; at other times, another tool might be better suited.

So, in this blog series, we're going to explore the following:

  • What makes Wix Studio different

  • Where it shines (and where it doesn't)

  • Whether it's the right choice for your following site

  • What it's like working with a designer (like me) using Wix Studio

  • Plus: a peek behind the scenes of real client builds

And the best part? I'll keep things human. No jargon. No lectures. Just straight talk, some helpful visuals, and maybe a few memes.

Who This Series Is For

  • You run a business, but tech isn’t your strong suit

  • You’ve tried DIY platforms, but your site still doesn’t look or feel right

  • You’re planning a redesign and don’t know where to start

  • You’re curious about what Wix Studio offers

  • You like learning with a dash of humour (and possibly snacks)

If any of those sound like you, you’re in the right place. 🍕

What You Can Expect

TL;DR — Let’s Keep It Simple

You don’t need to learn code to get a great website. You need a platform that works for your brand, aligns with your goals, and fits within your budget. Wix Studio might be that platform — and we’re about to find out if it is.
